#TheFrontStepsProject of MS has been completed. Thanks to those who participated! Together we raised over $1100 for Parkway Heights United Methodist Church.

What is The Front Steps Project?

#TheFrontStepsProject was started by photographer Cara Soulia in Needham, Massachusetts, to take photos of families on their front steps and instead of taking payment, donations are requested for a local charity.

In Cara’s words: ‘The purpose of this project is to bring us together when we might feel isolated.  I aim to highlight the faces of our community during a time when we might not see them in passing at the grocery store, coffee shop, on the train or at the gym.  Participating in this project is also an opportunity to step up to help those who need it most right now.’

Why am I participating and why should you?

In times like these we all want to help but not sure how. I thought this was such a great idea and not only will I get to put a smile on your face, you’ll get a professional family photo and a charity will benefit as well.

Who will benefit from the funds raised?

I’ve teamed up with Parkway Heights United Methodist Church to raise funds for The Christmas/Easter Offering which benefits the Community Benevolence Fund for those who are going through a financial hardship.

How does this work?

• Families can sign-up on the link below. You will know when I am coming so your family can be ready on your front steps.
• Social distancing, I will be standing at least 10 feet away and will spend a quick 5-10 minutes snapping photos of your family. (I won’t physically touch anyone or anything during this quick session.)
• I will email you a digital file of your portrait and in exchange, request that you donate to the Parkway Heights Christmas/Easter offering. (Suggested donations are $25-$50 but please donate what feels comfortable for you.)
• With your permission, photos will be posted to my photography Instagram and photography Facebook using the hashtag #TheFrontStepsProject. Please share these posts and let’s spread word!
